How to Repair Broken Glass

Should you invest in a new shower screen?

For most people taking a shower is a part of their daily routine. Maybe, you shower in the morning? Perhaps you use the shower in the evening to wash away the grime? Alternatively, maybe, you feel the need to shower multiple times each day to stay feeling fresh and clean. No matter how often you shower, you will no doubt want the experience to be quick and easy. You may like taking your time in the shower, but getting in and out of the shower should be quick and easy. For most homeowners, it is equally as important, that when it is not in use, the shower does not negatively impact the use of the bathroom.

What makes a great shower?

When you think about a shower, you may focus primarily on the volume and temperature of the water, but there are also other things to consider. One of the most under-appreciated aspects of the shower is the screen. Shower screens play a vital role in keeping the water inside the shower and preventing it from splashing over the floor and walls, causing an unwanted flood to mop up before you can get on with your day. For shower screens to work properly, they must remain in good condition and not be easily damaged. There must also be nothing about the screen to detract from the appearance or usefulness of the bathroom.

What should you look for in shower screens?

  1. Solidity - Shower screens come in many styles and designs. To choose the most appropriate screen, you must consider both the design of your bathroom and how the screen will be used. Good shower screens are not overly fragile, but it is still possible for them to be damaged. If you have young children who could subject the shower screen to rough usage, it could be best to invest in a framed shower screen to provide additional support and hold the screen in place.
  2. Bathroom Design - Choosing the right shower screen depends as much on the design of the bathroom as on what you want from the shower. Look around your bathroom and see how the space is used. Ideally, you will want to place the shower somewhere that allows for easy access to the shower without the screen getting the way of anyone else in the bathroom. If space is restricted, it may be better to look at folding or sliding shower screens rather than one that opens outwards. Using a sliding or folding door will minimise the likelihood of the screen being accidentally hit or damaged by someone entering the bathroom without taking note of any obstructions.
